Eareckson Air Station

Site Background:

Eareckson Air Station is located on Shemya, an Alaskan Island located approximately 1,500 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The current mission of Eareckson AS is to provide logistical support for military aircraft and to support Department of Defense (DoD) communications. It is frequently used as a refueling stop for military flights traveling to destinations in Asia and the Pacific.

Architecture and Engineering Design Services and Environmental Assessment (Stormwater Drainage):

Architecture and engineering design for the repair of stormwater drainage basins on the base. The project included the clearing of obstructions and debris from the stormwater culverts.

INYA oversaw, and in some instances carried out, the performance of hazardous materials survey to identify materials containing PFAS. Hazardous materials and mitigation information will be used to inform construction procedures.

Architect-Engineering Services for Design-Bid-Build Construction (Water Distribution System)

INYA was awarded a design-bid-build contract which will take place later this year. Services include quality assurance of construction and review and development of submittals.

Architect-Engineering Services for Design-Bid-Build Construction (Electrical Power Distribution System):

Construction quality assurance and oversight for the repair of the electrical power distribution system. INYA was responsible for performing full-time, on-site surveillance throughout construction. INYA also reviewed and developed documents for government use and performed on-site investigation as needed to answer questions or revise design requirements.
